I DO not understand why the ramblers are objecting to the creation of a new stretch of bridlepath at Wicken. The ramblers have about 85 per cent of the rights of way in England, bridlepaths are about 15 per cent. They have plenty of places to walk, riders and cylists have very few places, and have to contend with the hazards of traffic.

I thought ramblers would be more sympathetic, they would still be able to use this route.

Horses do not leave large quantities of droppings, and anyway horse droppings are only chewed-up grass (unlike what dogs leave behind when accompanying walkers) and dry up into dust in dry weather or get washed away in wet weather in an extremely short time.

The county council and parish councils are to be congratulated for their support of local riders and cyclists.
