It has been impossible over the last couple of years not to notice the growing number of Portuguese workers in the area. Apparently there are between 800 and 1000 in our part of East Cambs. While they must be missing the sunshine they can, at least, enjoy some of the delicacies of their native land by shopping in Soham High Street. The shop that for years was the Peter Lyons electrical emporium has been reborn as the 25 Abril Portuguese delicatessen. On a brief visit the other day I was amazed at the stuff available. Lots of fish, either frozen or salted and bread and cakes are readily available, you may have to ask Marco behind the counter what the instructions say as they are all in Portuguese!

25 Abril and Poppies are getting together to show live Portuguese football in the bistro where you can complete the experience with Portuguese beer. All we need now is the sun...
