Now that the new town off the Shade is taking shape and attracting occupants it's about time that their new councillors had a look at the main road at the eastern end of the estate. If a youngster from the new estate wants to go and see his or her mate on Northfield Park, and cross the road safely he or she needs to walk into town as far as the Co-op, use the Pelican Crossing there and walk back. As if that's going to happen! No, they will dash across the road which has a 40 mph limit. Unfortunately 40mph usually means 40mph-and-a-bit, quicker than a youngster can dash.
If the new estate off the Shade is to become part of the town don't they deserve a safe crossing?
