I HEARTILY agree with your correspondent Teresa Lloyd in last week's Letters Page about the date on which this year's Ely fireworks display in the park was held.
I was amazed that such a usually thoughtful group of charity workers could have lowered their standards in such a way as to hold this event on November 11, which has always been held to honour our troops who lost their lives in the wars.
We had the two-minutes silence as usual at 11am and then we had to have our ears pounded with the loudest barrage I have heard from any fireworks display. Surely to have the display on the fourth would have been satisfactory to everyone. What a dishonour to all our service personnel both past and present and their relatives.
