I READ with interest the story that the layby near Ely High Bridge is to close as it has become a magnet for commuter parking. I couldn't help thinking that those who have come to this decision have missed a trick. Is there no way that parking restrictions could be introduced? Most commuters park before 8am and return after 5pm. Even putting a six or seven hour restriction in place means that they would have to find somewhere else. Most walkers, bird watchers etc. are seldom there for more than a few hours and the restriction would not affect them. Just a thought.
