At last week’s meeting, there was widespread indignation at the proposal to cut the Saturday Park-and-Ride in Ely before Christmas at short notice and with no consultation.

I UNDERSTAND that Cllr Tom Hunt is starting a regular pattern of surgeries within the Ely South ward. That is one way of communicating with the public.

The Liberal Democrats regularly distribute Focus leaflets to local residents, explaining their actions and consulting about local problems and policies. Each copy contains the names and contact details of the Focus team. Many people contact us in this way. Regular Neighbourhood Panel meetings provide a forum for members of the public to receive reports and question councillors and service providers about the services they provide. At last week’s meeting, there was widespread indignation at the proposal to cut the Saturday Park-and-Ride in Ely before Christmas at short notice and with no consultation. The suggestion that revenue from parking charges should be used to extend and improve the Park-and-Ride service was received with enthusiasm. Let us hope that the controlling group at East Cambs District Council will follow this up.
