THE piece last week about the noisy youngsters around the Pavilion on Friday prompted a lady from the Soham St John Ambulance branch to point out that they get the same thing every week. The cadets meet in the concrete building at the rear of the Pavilion and are subject to banging and interference on a regular basis. Not surprisingly they are getting fed up with it.

There was an attempt being made to engage with the young people of the town. The Soham Action 4 Youth organisation employed a chap to befriend and talk to the young people hanging around on Friday evenings. Who knows how much good was coming of it, but having someone who was interested and could speak to and for them must have been worthwhile. There was also a youth club. Now, following months of squeezing and juggling of funds, the cash has finally run out.

It's always easy to complain, goodness knows I do enough of it, but when someone is trying to do something worthwhile it's a real shame that the powers that be can't chip in with a bit of cash to keep it going. Let's face it, they've saved plenty of money by not distributing leaflets about the paper sacks and by halving the collections in Witchford.
