ONE of the joys of travelling in the summer is creeping along behind a long line of traffic that is following a motorised snail. A snail carries its home on its back and some motorists carry their homes on the back of their vehicles in the form of caravans. I'm sure it's a fine way to spend your leisure time, and taking the comforts of home with you to exotic places like Heacham and Hunstanton must be great, but couldn't they travel between midnight and 6am? Please?

Having said all that, why am I going to encourage you to help buy another caravan? Because the one used by the Soham Fenlander Majorette troupe is on its last legs (or should that be tyres?) that's why. It will just about last this year out, but that's it. They need about £3,000 to replace it and are now busy fundraising.

Tomorrow night they are organising a 'Race Nite' and auction at the football club. Apparently the MC is a little 'out of the ordinary', so it is adults only. Among the items for auction is a T-shirt signed by footballer Michael Owen and a photograph of this year's Derby winner with a very special signature.

Tickets are £5, including a buffet and are available from Kim on 01353 722557 or Lynne on 01353 723450 or from the club.
