THE obstacle course for pedestrians and electric scooter users that is the footpath on the Fordham Road boundary of Red House Gardens has improved ever so slightly.

The part of the hedge at the southern end has been cut back and made respectable and it is possible for anyone to get past easily. Unfortunately no other parts of the hedge have been touched and it is still necessary to crouch down or step into the road to pass. Of course, it would make sense to pass by on the other side of the road, but then you are running the gauntlet of passing cyclists using the stop/start cycle lane. They tend to be so quiet and quick these days that the first you know is when one is embedded in your leg. Perhaps it's safer just to get the car out and burn some fuel.
