HOW nice it was in Sutton over the bank holiday weekend.
The long-standing tradition of the great war films being shown in the afternoon of the Bank Holiday Monday, alas the television companies deemed it not necessary this weekend, but our local church was able to oblige, playing the theme tunes at full blast through their public address system. For over an hour, we had all the greats, The Great Escape, The Dambusters, 633 Squadron and Colditz, we even had a few other film classics thrown in for good measure, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Mash, Top Gun and The A Team. Many thanks to all those who organised this public broadcast to over half of the village, even if we were hoping for a peaceful bank holiday afternoon, which was broken by this racket.
