I AM trying to help someone who was in a children's home in Ely from around 1940 - 1947. I thought at first he was referring to the home on Cambridge Road, but he says that he was in a home at the rear of the Tower Hospital.
From there, he could see the chapel. The building he describes sounds like the old isolation hospital, but was it ever used as a boys' home?
He mentions two nurses in charge: Miss Pate and Miss Anderson.
I would love to hear from anyone who can give me any further information so that I can pass it on.
Many thanks,
