THE future of the church hall seems a little more certain now, what with the church council deciding to accept the half-a-million-plus offer for the site. It does pose a question, though; Where will the church hold its social events with no church hall? All the fuss about the hall being built with public subscription reminded several people of another project that attracted a lot of cash from the people of Soham a few years ago. Schoolchildren, parents and, it seemed, everyone else was organising events and dipping into their pockets to fund a facility that the town needed then and still needs today. If we could find this money we could possibly turn the church hall site into a real asset to the town. It would make a great site for the Soham swimming pool.
