IT is now 40 years since the boys grammar school in Soham became part of the comprehensive village college and, to all intents and purposes, ceased to exist.
The school could trace its origins to the 17th century, so its disappearance was a major change for the town.
To commemorate the sad demise former pupils and members of staff will give a talk entitled ‘40 Years On’ at the annual reunion dinner on October 6 in the old assembly hall, now known as Beechurst Hall.
All former pupils of the grammar school are invited to come along and renew friendships, share a glass of wine and enjoy a three-course dinner, all for the sum of 25.
John Dimmock of 11 Toyse Lane, Burwell, is acting as bookings manager and cheques should be sent to and be made out to him by October 2 at the very latest.
More information about former pupils and masters can be found on www.sohamgrammar.org.uk
