I paid an unusual visit to my husband John at his care home for his birthday on Friday.

I arrived in a 1927 Alvis and was dressed in an early 20th century nurse’s costume to highlight my belief that the NHS should make provision of nurses a first priority.

John’s care home is Heron House in March and many of the residents enjoyed seeing the vintage car and chatting with its owner Richard Swain.
