I HAVE been told lately that a large number of houses are planned for the land to the north of Cam Drive. Surely before this happens, the planners should think about having another supermarket there (Asda and Morrisons spring to mind).
This would help residents on the new development and also people in Little Downham, Chettisham and Littleport who have to travel miles to do a big weekly shop. This would also cut out a lot of traffic going into town.
Waitrose is very handy for local residents and people without cars. We need more than Tesco on the edge of town.
When I first came to Ely, the population was 10,000 and we had numerous food stores and plenty of corner shops. I wonder what the number is now.
