WE should have a Lidl supermarket in Ely. Tesco has had it all its own way for too long.
The trouble is, we will not get another supermarket here that might prove too much competition for Tesco.
Why is it that other market towns can allow more than one supermarket chain into its towns but not Ely? A prime example is Stowmarket.
Not only does it have a big Tesco on the edge of town, it also has Asda, Lidl and Aldi. But then they must have a council who put the views of the council tax payers first, unlike our council who seems to prefer wasting council tax money on things we do not want.
