SOHAM'S music pub, the Cherry Tree on Fordham Road, is staging a six-a-side football tournament on Sunday and there is a disco and jazz band at the football club on Monday.

Actually the event at the football club is much more than music, it is a fun day organised by Pampered Princess Parties in aid of the cash-strapped EACH organisation, which runs the Milton Hospice. There are events all day, from noon until late when there will be a draw and auction for such treasures as a signed photo of footballer Phil Neville, Michael Owen's autograph, a driving lesson, quite a lot of wine, a shirt from Coronation Street, autographed items from Ipswich Town, Blackburn Rovers, Jamie Oliver and Hermione from the Harry Potter films. Some might consider the family ticket for a Cambridge United match to be the booby prize, but there's no accounting for taste! Watching some of the antics during the World Cup a football club would appear to be just the place for a pampered princess. Some of these fragile internationals could do worse than study the way our town players grab a game by the throat.
