SERGEANT Paul Rogerson joined the Ely North Neighbourhood team at the beginning of the month having spent two years working as a neighbourhood officer in South Cambridgeshire.

He is delighted to have joined a highly motivated and focused team of constables and Police Community Support officers.

Over the last month the team has been focusing on a number of priority crime and disorder related issues.

It has been working on Friday and Saturday nights in mixed teams of patrol officers and plain clothes patrols, targeting drugs users.

Members have been using their powers to search individuals who they believe to be carrying drugs, and arrest or issue street warnings.

They have also been issuing £80 penalty notices for disorder for rowdy behaviour in the Ely area as they work to stamp out nuisance behaviour from the town centre. PCSO's have focused on youth related disorder and have been seizing alcohol from those too young to possess it.

They have also issued £80 fixed penalties for supplying alcohol to youth's under 18. Officers are working on reducing current levels of thefts from cars, offering advice at surgeries, patrolling later into the night to catch thieves and contacting you when they see your car left insecure or with property on display.

After consultation with residents and targeted patrols, incidents of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage in Littleport are on the decrease.

If you would like to contact the team call 0845 456 4564 or use the website - www.cambs.police.uk - to find out about your local officers.
