WE seem to have a bit of a jumble of street signs at the moment. A few months ago lots of new ones were installed with smaller writing on them while the original ones were destroyed. Not everywhere benefited from the new signs, however. White Hart Lane has a new one but the High Street, as far as the sign on the Portuguese deli is concerned, doesn't qualify.

One lane in town doesn't appear to qualify for a sign at all, old or new. We all know where it is, but for a stranger, say someone driving a hospital car, not having any identification visible makes it a little difficult to identify. Have a look yourself next time you are that way. If you didn't know better you would think that Speed Lane was actually called Granby Terrace. One little sign would solve the whole problem.
