WE'VE had lots of visitors to town recently. There was a meeting of the Neighbourhood Panel in The Pavilion where lots of parish, town, district and county councillors gathered to hear what our local police are up to these days and how they intend to carry out their duties in the future. To give them their due, they are actually trying to do a job with what resources they can muster.

One of the objects of the meeting was to listen to members of the public who attended, and to identify two areas that need special attention. As you would expect, anti-social behaviour was high on most people's wish (it didn't happen) list. One chap from Fordham was particularly fed up with the current state of affairs on the Mildenhall Road estate and the meeting decided that one of the priorities should be dealing with feral teenagers in that area. The other priority is speeding throughout the area, which includes Soham, Isleham, Wicken, Chippenham, Snailwell, Kennett, Wicken and Upware. There will be another meeting of the panel on January 17 at 7pm at Beechurst Hall if you'd like to hear what goes on for yourself.
