WHAT a shame one of your readers did not enjoy the May Day concert at Ely Cathedral when we have had such a great deal of positive feedback from many local concert go-ers and musicians. The event involved hours of rehearsals from the many children's choirs involved in the performance of Zimbe! which was watched and enjoyed by the composer Alexander L'Estrange.

Obviously we are very grateful for any comments regarding an event at the cathedral and we have fed these thoughts back to the organisers and musicians involved. In the meantime we are keen to restore Mr Mayne's faith in the musical excellence of Ely Cathedral by inviting him to attend two other concerts to mark the 900th anniversary of the Diocese. The first event on May 23 includes a special performance by Britten Sinfonia soloist, Lita Manners, and features music by Schubert, Debussy & Strauss. The second concert in June features a magnificent performance of Haydn's Nelson Mass plus music by Handel, Purcell and Mendelssohn, performed by the choir of Ely Cathedral who are joined on stage by two renowned choirs from Cambridge University. Both events are 100 per cent guaranteed not to disappoint!
