Sluice" is not a beautiful structure, and not suitable for a pleasant, non-industrial area of the city.

Its noises and lights would have potential to irritate river-users and residents, and would invite the mirth of visitors.

Ely's Sluice sculpture has divided opinion in the community, but what do you think?

Is the sculpture an eyesore that will spoil the riverside, or is it a project that will benefit the riverbank?

Visit www.ely-standard.co.uk to vote in our on-line poll. At the moment, more than 60 per cent of our visitors believe the sculpture will ruin the waterside.

We will keep the poll open over the next week and publish our results in next week's Ely Standard.
