I HAVE been a non-smoker all my life. I grew up in a smoking environment when my whole family and friends smoked. At home, at work, in cinemas, restaurants, theatres, shops and public transport everyone smoked.

At the age of 53, I was diagnosed with angina and attended Papworth Hospital where I received an operation because, they said, I was a non-smoker.

I appreciate the Government's intervention in banning smoking in public but it is too little too late for many a non-smoker who has contracted angina through, I believe, passive smoking.
