The pathetic attempt by Multiplex Stannifer to have Mereham classified as a Eco Town has failed and so has Waterbeach. This is good news for the East Cambs area and the 'Say No to Mereham' campaign, but shows complete disregard for local government as there is one listed development in South Cambs.

Multiplex are chancers who have fallen at this hurdle, but one wonders how much the government really study the applications when Mereham is listed as near Milton Keynes!

I urge all local residents to write to Hazel Blears MP (House of Commons, London SW1) and explain why Mereham cannot be allowed to happen and ask her to consider where it is before making a decision. Her final decision is due in September.
