WHILE I am in no doubt that the area between North Ely and Littleport needs a new secondary school - not least because it would give Littleport more credibility as a town in its own right - but also because it would give local youngsters a school to be proud of. The authorities find it difficult to maintain existing facilities; namely the City if Ely Community College where plans to reduce the size of Needhams tower were shelved and where toilet facilities for students and staff are disgusting. Some science labs are still not up to standard even basic things such as windows and adequate blinds. If improvements have been made since July 2009 I take back my comments.
