Flights are necessary to defend way of life

WITH reference to the letter from Mr F Bowles regarding USAF aircraft. I have lived in Ely for 70 years, and many of the aircraft fly over my home. This is fine with me, I would much rather see the USAF star than the swastika or a red star.

If he had attended the memorial

service for the British and foreign

airmen who gave their lives in the Battle of Britain he would have seen a large contingent of US airmen

willing to give support and remembrance.

These flights are necessary and vital for the defence of our way of life in the west.

At the moment we are much more at risk from within than from US aircraft.

If this gentleman likes to count things in a peaceful place, he should go to a field in Madingly where he can count the names on a wall, and rows of headstones.
