YOUR Haddenham correspondent misses the main point regarding the National Trust's so-called 'Wicken Vision' and should not compare the result of the latest so-called 'consultation' with the general election of 2005 which, by our first past the post system, produced a Government that some are dissatisfied with, though it won 356 seats in Parliament, more than any other party.

On that occasion, more than 26 million people voted. Labour was not re-elected with a mere 1.92 per cent of the possible vote, but that is the percentage by which the Trust is claiming 'overwhelming public support' for its Vision which, of course, is utter nonsense.

If a Government were elected anywhere - with the possible exception of Zimbabwe - on such a basis, the people would rise up in revolt, which is just what they are doing in this area against the dictatorial National Trust.
