Claims Sir Jim Paice knew about horsemeat scandal is just political opportunism

I SEE John Young (formerly of the Meat Hygiene Service) implicates Sir Jim Paice in the horsemeat scandal by implying that he ignored a letter to Defra expressing concerns over the meat passport system.

There seems to be no evidence that Sir Jim (farming minister at the time) was aware of the letter so Mr Young is assuming a lot and skating on very thin ice and I am left wondering if this is really a piece of political opportunism.

From experience I will say that Sir Jim is an excellent MP - he has never failed to answer my letters and has always shown interest in the points I have raised with him.

MP’s get it in the neck all the time so it is nice to be able to say something positive.
