IT was only a matter of time before the Littleport Leisure Centre got to the stage it is at now.

The problems have been obvious to residents since it first opened in the 1990s. It has never been used to its full potential. Any time of the day or time of year it looks deserted. The centre has a small village mentality and has never advanced into the new millennium. A perfect example of this is the gym - old, badly repaired equipment 10 years out of date, held together with black tape.

The committee need to bring in fresh blood from outside the village. People who know the leisure industry and are willing to invest, manage and give good customer value.

Let's start getting serious. The committee has messed about for years and that is why it is in this mess now. Bring in new staff, new management, new ideas, new investment before it is too late.

It has so much potential. Let's start thinking outside the box. Move forward and get professional. Asking members to give even more money so that the centre can stay exactly the same is not going to help.
