FOLLOWING the news of a drastic 40 per cent cut to ADeC's funding, I felt I must log my opposition to such a move.

As a resident of East Cambridgeshire myself, my family and I have enjoyed many events organised by ADeC, and would be really sorry to see the services cut. At a time when they have really established the service right across the district, as well as providing a vibrant cultural life in Ely, it would be terrible to see the service scaled back.

ADec has also offered excellent support providing opportunities and career development to my self and other professional artists working within the district and beyond, benefiting local residents in the process. In my experience, they are one of the most professional local arts development teams I have worked with.

The presence of ADeC and the Babylon Gallery in East Cambridgeshire takes perceptions of the district beyond a parochial Fen backwater as it was once known both locally and beyond. The quality of life of those who live in the district is enhanced greatly by the work of ADeC.
