HOT on the heels of their banning a meeting to try to buy the Church Hall, Soham Town Council has put up a sign banning fishing at Brook Dam.

If global warming is going to be accelerated by some kids with butterfly nets in pursuit of sticklebacks then stop them; otherwise let them be kids, for goodness sake.

What is this obsession with stopping people from doing things? People get bees in their bonnets and become obsessed with stopping somebody else from doing something.

If you'd like to make your feelings known, make sure you vote in the elections on May 3.

Talking of the council elections, there was another outbreak of potential politicians in the High Street on Saturday. That means that both parties in local politics have had a go so now it's just the independents.

Come to think of it, independents by their very nature can't really come together as a group otherwise they'd be the independent party which would be a bit like a melodic rapper or sweet smelling fish, it just doesn't work.
