One of the best free entertainments in Soham, particularly if you have small children, is the Brook Dam duckpond. You can have endless hours of fun throwing stale bread at the inhabitants and shouting, "stay away from the edge" at your offspring. There is a litter bin between the seats and a large green bin for doggy-doo on the small green near the road. Unfortunately the green bin doesn't always register with all owners. Fortunately they are doing a good job clearing up after their friends, but some can't seem to make it to the bin. On more than one occasion a laden supermarket bag has been hung on the hedge beside the path. Sometimes I think that I'll never understand what goes on in certain heads!
