HOLIDAY dreams have come true for four lucky local people – thanks to the Anglia Co-operative food store at Littleport.

The Wisbech Road store held a special members’ instant win promotion during February with literally hundreds of instant prizes up for grabs.

And, each week during the four weeks of the promotion, one shopper also scooped a £500 Anglia Co-operative travel voucher.

The four winners received their prizes at the store. They included Littleport woman Carol Richardson, who is bringing up a 16-year-old disabled son, and bride-to-be Rachel King, of Little Downham.

Carol has been unable to travel on aeroplanes since suffering a stroke and her son, Liam, suffers from global development delay and cannot speak. She said: “This win is a lovely surprise, when I was told about it I had to check four times!

“Three years ago we went to Paris on Eurostar and really enjoyed it and I always said we would like to go back and now we can!”

Rachel and fiancé Stuart Brown are planning to marry next January and now they can look forward to an extra special honeymoon.

Rachel said: “I never win anything. I’m really, really pleased. It has meant we can look at either Australia or an African safari for our honeymoon, now.”

The two other £500 holiday voucher prizes were won by Janet Gillett, of Littleport and Elizabeth Burton, of Ely. Both confessed to being “shell-shocked” when contacted about their wins.

Mrs Gillett and husband Roderick are considering a holiday to Italy or Cyprus with their prize. She said: “It was a lovely surprise as I never win anything.”

Mrs Burton and husband Kenny may use their prize to holiday in the Channel Islands. She said: “We haven’t had a week away for six years, so this is something really nice to look forward to.”

Store manager Chris Wright said: “The Instant Win promotion for Anglia Co-operative members proved extremely popular with more than 7,000 transactions eligible for the random instant prizes.

“I’m delighted we’ve been able to provide some lovely holidays for our four ‘big’ winners – but we also gave away over 800 instant prizes like tea, coffee and vouchers, during the promotion, to add a bit of excitement to our members’ shopping experience.”
