Residents were out in force at this year’s Soham Carnival as the event marks its 71st anniversary.

Around 2500 people flocked to the popular family attraction at Soham Recreation Ground.

Renowned for its exciting performances and attractions throughout the day, the event also supports fundraising for local charities, groups, and associations as well as offering exposure for local businesses.

This year, organisers welcomed world record holder, Jez Average, for a display of his most breath taking stunts.

Helen Bavester, Treasurer for the Soham Benevolent Association, told the Ely Standard: “What a fantastic day we had at Soham Carnival. The atmosphere was amazing, people were happy, and great music was heard.

“Kilo, a top UK Graffiti Artist from Splash and Dash creations held workshops and created a fantastic artwork piece which we're in no doubt brought in the most teenagers we've seen for years.

“The Soham Benevolent Association, organisers of the carnival, would like to thank everyone who attended, our sponsors and advertisers, and all the helpers on the day.

She added: “Our main beneficiary for this year is the Soham and Ely Food Bank but we also donate to other requests.

“If you are a school, club, charity, or organisation you can write to us with a request for a donation, email to carnival@soham.org.uk by June 10.
