Difficult choices this weekend, April 20 and 21, for Littleport’s residents who decide to go ‘out out’ on Saturday night!

Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club transforms into a nightclub when Halo will play 80s, 90s and noughties from 9pm.

Derek Timbers the jovial entertainments manager, says ”they went down a storm when they played here previously”.

Revellers will sip drinks served at definitely non-nightclub prices. Tickets cost £3 for members and £5 for visitors who, as Derek says, are always welcome.

The historic Crown Inn, the public house immortalised as a watering hole of the Littleport Rioters in 1816, is bang up to date with its Saturday night offering.

Vocalist Arianne will get customers boogieing the night away with her selection of popular tunes from 9pm.

And, on Sunday afternoon, Gemma sings and entertains between 3 and 6pm.

Littleport Leisure is a real action centre! There is a full daily programme for all age groups and physical abilities.

For instance, on Mondays and Wednesdays there is a group for over 55’s from 9.30-12noon.

For £6, including tea and coffee in the delightful café area, you can use the gym facilities, participate in a stretch and tone class, and play badminton and table tennis.

And as Clare Pendle, head of the management team, says “try all activities or only one, the option is yours. It’s a great way to socialise and have fun”.

On Wednesdays there’s a jazz dance class too. Continuing the musical theme - Thursdays 10.30-11.30am for just £4, there is a gentle dance exercise session, standing or seated, in an easy-going, fun environment. Call reception 01353 373800.

On Tuesday April 23, you can quietly celebrate St George’s Day with a visit to the welcoming St George’s Church on Church Lane for a coffee and sociable chat from 10.45 – 12.30pm.

After which you can discover the wonderful heritage of this quintessentially English town at The Littleport Society’s staffed archives (cuppa available of course) at the Barn CB6 1PH, from 1-4pm.
