Passengers travelling between Ely and Norwich today (Friday) are among those being warned they will face delays.

Greater Anglia says flooding on the railways at Thetford from Storm Babet will affect its service.

Posting on X, formally known as Twitter, it said: “Due to heavy rain having flooded the railway at Thetford, services running from Ely towards Norwich are currently unable to run through Thetford.

“Network Rail staff are enroute to the site.”

Delays are being experienced across the railway network, and trains between Peterborough and Ipswich also cancelled due to flooding.

Meanwhile, Stagecoach East, apologised because “multiple road closures, road works, heavy traffic and bad weather conditions” were “having a bit impact” on services.

It posted on X: “Due to multiple road closures, road works, heavy traffic and bad weather conditions are having a big impact on our services causing some heavy delays.

“We apologise for any inconvenience. We are trying to get to you as soon as we can.”
