A housebuilder has donated furniture from a showhome at its Cortlands development in Fordham to a charity supporting homeless people in Cambridgeshire.

The furniture from Ashberry Homes’ development, off Soham Road, will be sold at Emmaus Cambridge’s charity shop at Green End in Landbeach, with the proceeds going towards its work to overcome homelessness and social exclusion.

Furniture donated included chairs, artificial plants, and other household items.

CEO of Emmaus Cambridge, Diane Docherty, said: “These sorts of donations are an amazing gift to Emmaus.

“We can sell such quality goods easily to support our income generation which enables us to do what we do and help more people.”

She added: “I say a personal thank you for this donation because such donations help in lots of ways, from giving people on a low-income access to lovely furniture to supporting the work Emmaus does in supporting people out of homelessness.”

Sales Manager for Ashberry Homes, Amy Hughes, said: “We are pleased to be able to help such a worthwhile local charity, as well as seeing our furniture being reused and given a new lease of life.”
