Members of the 1094 Ely Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets repaid a compliment to their RAF colleagues when they hosted their annual dining-in night.

The squadron was invited to RAF Lakenheath where 50 cadets and staff were treated to a round robin tour of the base, as well as getting close to F-15, F-22 and F-35 fighter jets.

And on February 17, the squadron welcomed guests from the United States Air Force at RAF Lakenheath for is dinner at The King’s School in Ely.

Others who attended include David Martin, chair of the Royal British Legion Ely branch, Caroline Sandford, daughter of late Ely Squadron president Norman Green and her husband Martin.

“The references you made about dad were very moving and brought many a tear to my eyes in a very good way,” said Mrs Sandford.

“We are delighted that his memory will live on within the 1094 Ely Squadron and I know he would be pleased that things are moving forward and that you have found a suitable candidate for the role.”
