Littleport is a few feet above sea level – just enough to make it an ancient Isle of Ely settlement - and to ensure its inhabitants age more slowly, albeit infinitesimally!

And that could explain the otherwise indefinable impetus to take part in diverse activities, from cradle to old age, that seems to motivate all who live in Littleport!

With people driven to organise those enjoyable exertions whether physical or cerebral or both.

For instance, on February 17 at 10am, there is the first of five two-hour creative workshops run by local artists, drawing from objects found in the centre at the Adams Heritage Centre in Main Street.

It’s free for anyone on a low income or benefits too. Call 0300 303 3464 to book your place with the provider, the Workers Educational Association.

Also on Friday at the Littleport Leisure Centre in Camel Road, there’s junior circuits 11-12pm and a supervised gym session 1-2pm for 11-17-year-olds.To pre-book, call 01353 373800.

‘Posability’ at 10-12pm offers exercise for you if you are living with long term neurological or other health conditions. Contact admin@posability.org

And from 3.45-6.45pm, dancing classes for pre-school, beginners, and juniors. More details, email: theschoolofdance@hotmail.co.uk.

On Friday evening, the popular bingo night at the Crown Inn is sold out! To book for March, pop in, message on Facebook or call 01353 862700.

The third Friday of the month is Littleport Flower Arranging Club night at the village hall in Victoria Street.
