Haddenham Boxing Club continues to travel around the country taking up and coming young fighters out for experience of bouts against some tough opponents.

Millie Symons, 14, fought in the finals of the school girls championships and was narrowly beaten by S Locke from Holland Park.

Trainer Mike Sawyer said: “She boxed out of her skin and put the girl under a lot of pressure. She is a very determined girl and she is learning all the time.

“She did a great job but weakened in the third round so it meant she narrowly missed the win.”

Tommy Bowles, 11, fought at Margate against S Jones from Margate and won on a majority.

“Tommy boxed superb and kept his opponent on the outside with some lovely jabs,” said Mike.

Leonardo Kechnie, 18, competed in his first fight which he lost but Mike said: “I was very pleased with him and he learnt a lot as a novice fighter, I know he will take a lot from it for future bouts.”

This weekend Millie fights in Kent against K Power and Alfie Cornell is pitted against G Wackins.
