Littleport Town surged up the league table with a 4-2 derby win at Chatteris Town Reserves.

Port have been in stuttering form this season but showed no sign of it on Saturday as they overawed their hosts, who remain rooted to the bottom of the league with just a single win from 11 matches.

Ben Layn and Nick Marsh provided the early goals for Port, with substitute Nico Bishop also on target.

The victory moved Port up into sixth place in the league and level on points with fourth-placed Bar Hill Saturday.

Burwell Swifts kept their hopes of promotion alive with a 3-1 win over Eaton Socon Reserves.

Goals from Nathan Hull and Jack Saunders put Swifts in command before a late strike from substitute Stuart Claydon wrapped up the points. Swifts remain in third place, six points behind leaders Doddington.

Percy Oldham Memorial Cup

Witchford 96 booked their place in the final of the cup with a thumping 5-0 win over Needingworth on Saturday.

In a one-sided final, Tom Parrish led the way for the hosts, netting twice to add to goals from Michael Sellers and Aron Spencer.

Substitute Michael Ward was also on target late on, his 27th goal of the campaign.

96 will take on the winners of the other semi-final between Sawston Rovers and Fowlmere.

Kershaw Premier League

Soham United earned a valuable point in a 1-1 draw against mid-table Fulbourn Institute on Saturday.

The point sees United move up into 15th place and opens up a gap between themselves and bottom side Cambridge University Press.

Kershaw Senior A

Ely City suffered a blow in their bid for promotion as they went down 1-0 to Royston Town A.

Peter Chappell struck in the 89th minute to steal all three points for the visitors and consign Ely to only their third defeat of the season.

NMC Division 2B

Fordham’s run of form continued with a fine 3-2 win at Over to lift them to third in the table.

Fordham controlled the opening minutes, playing some delightful football.

They took the lead after 20 minutes play when goalkeeper Ben Tuffs’ long kick enabled Graham Ford to set up Tom Thatcher to score.

With the wind in the favour, Over then hit back although they were unable to penetrate the Fordham rearguard.

On the hour, Fordham went two up when Thatcher broke clear to put his side in a commanding position.

Five minutes later, Over pulled one back with a shot that took a deflection but just two minutes later, Fordham restored their two goal advantage when Ford enabled Tom Thatcher to score his 20th goal of the season and his hat-trick in this match.

In the final 20 minutes Over were forced to push everyone forward and they reduced the arrears in the 87th minute.

But Fordham’s earlier successes were enough to see them to a deserving victory.

Wayne Fleet saw red as Sutton United were hammered 7-0 in the quarter-final by Bar Hill Saturday.

NMC Division 3B

David Martin hit a hat-trick as Little Downham Swifts crushed Soham United Reserves 7-0.

Joining Martin on the score sheet were Jeremy Cutter, Lewis Chambers, Edwards Hale and Chris Kelly. The victory moved Swifts up into third place in the league and just five points behind leaders Red Lodge.

There was also an impressive win for Stretham Hotspurs, as they hammered Hemingfords United A, 5-1.

NMC Division 4B

Scott Johnson was on top form as he claimed a hat-trick for Littleport Town Reserves in a 6-3 win over Milton A.

Darren Lawrence, Mark Yardy and Jamie Gayfer were also on target in an impressive win that moved Port’s second string away from the drop zone and up into 10th.

Runaway league leaders Ely Crusaders saw their momentum checked as they were held to a 2-2 draw by a well-drilled Wisbech St Mary B side.

Lewis Peacock and James South were on target for free-scoring Crus, but the hosts hit back with goals from Marius Skrebe and Wayne Morton to claim a share of the spoils.

It was a good day at the office for Haddenham Rovers as they claimed a 3-0 win at Chatteris Town A to move themselves up into sixth place.
