ONE of the first groups to take part in the Government-backed National Citizenship Awards Scheme finished their course in Ely this week.
The 12-strong group of youngsters from East Cambridgeshire and Fenland spent six weeks taking on a series of challenges, learning new skills and building new relationships as part of the scheme.
On Thursday, the group brought the curtain down on their work by taking part in a charity cycle ride in aid of the Helping Harry charity.
The scheme is being administered in East Cambs and the Fens by Community Carts.
Leader Mick Oliver said: “The awards scheme is pretty full on and really puts the young people through their paces. They are a really close group and we are looking forward to them graduating in a few weeks time.”
