Two talented young singers have joined forces to produce a CD to raise funds for a hospice.

Molly Armstrong, 16, of Little Downham, and Charlie O’Connor, 16, of Ely, have produced a 10 track CD in aid of Lisa’s Fund, which raises funds for the Arthur Rank Hospice.

The fund was set up by Robert Barnes in memory of his late wife Lisa, who died of cancer in 2010 - she spent the last eight days of her life at Arthur Rank Hospice.

Mr Barnes said: “I heard Molly and Charlie sing and was told they were going to do a CD so I asked them if they wanted to do a CD for Lisa’s Fund. They jumped at it.

“It will have a bit of soul, country, rock and roll - a real mixture of music.

“They are only 16 but they are so talented. They have really strong voices and have been on StarFM radio.

“They are unassuming, adult, disciplined and want to do something to help others, which is fantastic.”

Lisa’s Fund reached the £100,000 milestone in May but Mr Barnes is determined to keep going so that a new hospice can be built on the outskirts of Cambridge.

He said: “£2.4 million is still needed to pay for the hospice so we hope the CD will be able to help in a small way.”

Arthur Rank Hospice offers specialist palliative care and support services to patients and their families throughout Cambridgeshire.

The hospice has an in-patient unit, day therapy facility and Hospice at Home service.

An outpatient clinic has been opened at the Princess of Wales Hospital to enable Ely residents to benefit from the same level of care without the need to travel into Cambridge.

The CD, which is due out by the end of November, should be available in local retailers, through contacting Mr Barnes and by download. You can discover Molly and Charlie’s music at their Facebook page Charlie and Molly
