Students from KD Academy, based in Soham and Ely, were treated to an acting masterclass from Olivier award-winner and West End star Leanne Jones ahead of their production of ‘Hairspray’.

Leanne, who played Tracy in the original West End production of ‘Hairspray’ visited students to share her advice, experiences and work on some of the scenes with the children.

Producer Daniel Bell said: “It was a very special time for the children and they all learnt so much from Leanne.

“The cast have been working so hard and to have Leanne in was a great experience for them all.”

In terms of the show, he said: “The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray JR. is the family-friendly musical piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.”

KD Academy will perform ‘Hairspray Jnr’ on June 24 and 25 at The Maltings in Ely.

Tickets; £13 to £15 each, can be purchased online www.kdacademy.co.uk or by calling 01353 725026.
