Viva Theatre Group’s Rich Soil Rich Heritage received plenty of praise after its opening run and now the group is looking to bring the film to new audiences.

The team behind the project would like to hear from local groups or organisations who would like Soham-based Viva to come to their meetings or premises to show the film.

Rich Soil Rich Heritage, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, is a community heritage film that explores how East Cambridgeshire has been shaped by the many different groups of people who have come to the area to work.

From 17th century Dutch drainage engineers to Second World War German and Italian prisoners of war and Polish fighter pilots, the project looks at how their work has helped shape the area.

The film is a blend of documentary style interviews and presenter pieces and dramatic costumed reconstructions of aspects of the areas history. Everyone in the film is a volunteer and it features babies to people in their nineties.

Hetti Wood, project coordinator, said: “We all had such a great time filming and putting the project together, so to see such a positive reaction from the public has been fantastic.

“We are already being booked up so make sure you get in touch if you wish to have us visit”.
