New photos have been uncovered of German prisoners of war in Ely in 1947.
One photo is of a group of prisoners with their huts in the background next to a Christmas tree.
The second one shows a band formed of prisoners gathered for a performance that was recorded by the BBC around Christmas 1947.
The prisoners were kept at the Barton Fields prisoner of war camp on the land where Ely Golf Club stands today.
Rich Soil Rich Heritage has been recording people’s memories of the prisoners kept in Ely during the Second World War.
They hope to hear from anyone who has information on the band’s performance or the venue featured in the 1947 photo.
Frank Crosby, project manager for Rich Soil Rich Heritage, said: “The photos were carefully identified on the reverse so there’s no question they were taken in Ely.
“We would like to know where the band are pictured and if anyone has information about any of their performances then we’d love to hear from them.”
