Ten roads across Cambridgeshire remain subject to flooding and police have urged motorists to take extra care.

A police spokesman said: “There are flood alerts across the county which could cause localised flooding.

“There is expected to be significant rainfall this morning and tomorrow, which is already causing standing water on many roads.”

The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings in Linton, Broughton, Girton, Alconbury and Toft.

To check if you are at risk from flooding please call Floodline on 0845 988 1188 or visit www.environment-agency.gov.uk/floodanglian In the event of flooding, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service will prioritise its attendance to emergencies where there is a risk to life. Be assured though, that if you are trapped by floodwater or your home is affected, call 999, ask for the Fire Service and you will be rescued.

We would urge anyone who must use the roads to drive to the conditions and at an appropriate speed. Motorists are advised not to attempt to drive through flooded roads or fords. The water is often deeper than it looks and it may be moving fast.

There are road closures on at:

• The Causeway, Sutton

• Wash Road, Welney

• B1040 North Bank at Whittlesey and Thorney

• B1046 at Toft

• Mill Lane, Little Paxton

• Broughton Road, Broughton

• Station Road, Tilbrook

• Bourn Road, Toft

• A141, lane one

• Duck End, Girton

The police spokesman said: “In the event of flooding, we would also ask people to be aware of elderly or vulnerable relatives and neighbours who may need help and support.

“The public are also advised to check the Environment Agency website and weather reports in the media or on the Met Office website.”
