Early tributes have been paid to a parish clerk and school secretary who was killed in a collision in Elm last night.
Carolyn Jobson, secretary at Elm C of E primary school and clerk to Wisbech St Mary parish council, died at the scene.
Brian Payne, chairman of Wisbech St Mary parish council today paid tribute to Mrs Jobson.
“It was with great sadness that we learned of the tragic death in a road traffic accident at Elm of Carolyn Jobson, the Clerk to Wisbech St Mary Parish Council.
“Carolyn had served the council for 15 years during which time she obtained professional qualifications and the council was granted quality status.”
He said Mrs Jobson had been “an excellent steward of the council’s finances, and her attention to the detail of parish council procedures ensured the smooth running of the monthly meetings.
“My colleagues and I are profoundly shocked by the news of Carolyn’s death. She served the council with distinction and we will greatly miss her advice and guidance. We send our condolences to her husband Keith.”
She was due to retire in a week’s time.
Mrs Jobson, 64, of Arles Avenue, Lesbaux, Wisbech, was on her cycle when she was involved in a collision with a Skoda Felicia in Friday Bridge Road just before 5pm.
The Skoda driver, a 65 year-old woman from Wisbech, suffered slight injuries.
PC Simon Burgin, investigating, said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision, or any of the vehicles involved just prior to get in touch.”
Anyone with any information should contact PC Burgin at the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
