A day of sporting tournaments and exercise classes is being held in Soham to raise money for life saving equipment.
The Ross Peers Sports Centre is holding a ‘defib day’ to raise money for a defibrillator on the outside of the building which will cost around £2,000 to buy and install.
The centre is running:
• An under 13’s roller hockey tournament from 9am to 2pm.
• A five-a-side football tournament from 2pm to 6pm.
• A bowls drive from 2pm to 5pm.
• Exercise classes at various times during the day to include spinning, tai chi, boot camp, HIIT and pilates. Classes are three for £10.
A spokesman for the centre’s event said: “Each year 80,000 to 100,000 people suffer a cardiac arrest in public in the UK.
“Speedy defibrillation saves lives.
“We are fund raising to purchase a defibrillator for the sports centre to ensure that should it ever be needed then we’ve the best possible chance of saving someone’s life.”
