The man was walking along Norwich Road, Wisbech, at around 11.45pm when he was approached by a man near the junction with Boyces Road.

“The victim was then punched in the face,” said a police spokesman.

The attacker is described as aged between 16 and 19, around 5’7” and slim, with short brushed forward black hair. He was wearing a waist length black jacket and black trousers.

The spokesman said: “He is believed to have spoken with a foreign language.”

PC Justin Bielawski, who is investigating, said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked attack on the victim who had been walking home after a night out.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to a man who is believed to have been walking down the street at the time of the incident.

“Anyone who thinks they may have information about who carried out this assault should not hesitate to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Bielawski on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

  • Was there no manhunt after this despicable incident? Why do financial institutions command more from the police than ordinary taxpayers, why a manhunt after a security man was robbed of his cash, but no manhunt to find whoever punched a 62 tear old in the face?

  • Another example of the cultural mismatch happening in this town. Everyone needs to be armed at all times against these sub-humans.

  • @ingo think about it ... It's because the guy who stole the cash was likely to be covered in red dye and easy to identify and prosecute. How do you prove who did this despicable act when there is a lack of witnesses and it was carried out at night, when its almost impossible to identify a person with 100% accuracy. The old boy won't have a clue what happened and so what are the police meant to do? Randomly drive round town and stop every single person they find .... That'll ado wonders for community relations
